Saturday and Sunday 18th and 19th August 2018
'PITMASTER' : Noun
One who operates a barbecue pit, and a term of respect for someone who is skilled at barbecuing.
With well over 12,500 visitors attending the first Maldon Smoke & Fire festival in 2017, the ‘pitmaster’ spirit is alive and well in Maldon. Slow n’ low U.S-style BBQ is no longer considered just a summer activity, with 20% of UK BBQ fans claiming to BBQ all year round. The Smoke and Fire festival is a celebration of great food, entertainment and atmosphere, showcasing the art of cooking with fire and smoke – in aid of a truly great cause.
Held in collaboration with Maldon District Council, the two-day family event, held on the weekend of August 18th and 19th 2018, is committed to raising vital funds for Essex Air Ambulance. Sited in Promenade Park, Maldon (CM9 5JQ): a stunning water-side site with avenues of mature trees and grass recreation areas running down to the banks of the river Blackwater.
An incredible weekend of family entertainment offering: Two Stages of Live Music, the Smoke and Fire Pit-Master Challenge, Essex Heats of the UK Chilli Cook-Off, Chilli Eating and Hot Wing Eating Contest, Real Ale & Cider Festival, New for 2018 - Camping in the Park, Kids Zone and more demonstrations, traders and stalls than ever.
